Short and sweet motivational questions for your self-care #15. Your rainbow

If you should be able to see a rainbow right now, how excited would you be?
How many pictures would you take?
How long would you look at it in awe and wonder?

Chances are... not that long.

A rainbow which lasts for a quarter of an hour is looked at no longer.

It doesn't matter how terrific and precious something (or someone?) is...
It doesn't matter how big the impact they have on us can be or how many times they can make our day. Actually, the greater they are, the faster we get used to enjoying all the benefits we get from them.
At some point, we start to take them for granted.
Even if it's stupid and selfish, even if this usually doesn't serve us well. And above all, even if while doing so we are actually risking to lose that special thing in our life.

Don’t set your mind on things you don’t possess as if they were yours, but count the blessings you actually possess and think how much you would desire them if they weren’t already yours.
Marcus Aurelius [121-180 AD], Meditations

What's the rainbow in your life, right now, you can be thankful for?
How can you cherish and treasure it, and acknowledge the value that can add to your life on a regular basis? How can you be thankful for it, as a daily practice?
