Coaching, reloaded - Coaching question of the day #156. - The two categories of cutting yourself some slack

I have a theory, so please bear with me.

People can be divided into two different categories: the ones that are way too hard on themselves and way too often, and that react surprised or skeptical if someone points that out, and the ones that are not hard enough on themselves on a regular basis and expect the solution to all their problems to come from the outside and not from themselves.

And if you try to point that out?
Then you are the problem, of course.

[In your career, in your education, with your loved ones,
in your hobbies, with your diet, at the gym...
The sky is the limit, here]

If you are reading this, I am pretty sure that you belong to the first category.

You are doing your best, you are giving all you can, you are on top of your game no matter what. Not even a pandemic can stop you.

And yet, you still feel like you should be doing more, be more, know more.
And yet, this is a recipe for disaster, if the feeling is that you would never be able to keep up with your own expectations because this is probably true.

The good news is, you don't have to.
And doing your best and keeping doing your best on a regular basis is more than enough.

Cut yourself some slack, once in a while.
It will change almost everything.
