The proverb "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me!" may feel safe and reassuring to many. We don't want to look like fools, be taken advantage of, or be tricked, right?
And yet sometimes, giving someone the benefit of the doubt is healthier and more productive long-term. Probably the most challenging part is deciding what we need in order to go for it, to take a risk, to be okay with the outcome, whatever it can be.
