Short and sweet motivational questions for your self-care #18. Where did your Elvis go?

Have you ever desired something with every fiber of your being, just in order to get what you wanted so much... when it was too late already and you didn't want it anymore?

That networking connection that could have opened so many doors... until you decided to go for another job.
That friendship that you cherished so much for so long... until you realized that you were the only one doing all the legwork.
That special someone that you longed for and that kept you out of balance for ages... until you discovered that, after all, you were having a pretty cool life also without them.

They are, among others, what I like to call the "Elvis situations". What's an Elvis situation?
An Elvis situation is whatever kind of situation in your life that could be a good fit for the famous announcement that originated the catchphrase "Elvis has left the building":

All right, all right, Elvis has left the building. I've told you absolutely straight up to this point. You know that. He has left the building. He left the stage and went out the back with the policemen and he is now gone from the building.
Horace Logan at the Shreveport Municipal Memorial Auditorium, 1956

Elvis has left the building. There's nothing left to do. Nothing left to try. Nothing left to say.
It is like it is, and it is too late.

Where did Elvis go, after each of his gigs?
Where did your Elvis go, after you discovered that you were better off without what you believed would have been a good fit for you?
How can this help you, the next time that you should feel broken-hearted because you are not getting what you want and looks so important and vital for your happiness, right now?
