Sometimes, working on your own goals can be scary.
They are your own goals, not the ones that someone else told you would be a good option for you or the ones that everyone else is pursuing because... everyone else is pursuing them.
They are yours to design, to master, to conquer.
They are also yours when you fail, or when you don't deliver. And this can be scary.
But it doesn't have to be. Also, it doesn't have to be overwhelming, or confusing.
Finding the necessary clarity for working on your goals is a process, like every other process.

And like in many other situations and processes, the key is starting small.

Go for something small, doable, easy to define, and to complete. It doesn't have to be the whole thing. It's just a start, and starting is your main mission, for now. The rest will come.
