When was the last time you read a sentence and your mind went "BAM!"?
To me, it has been about ten minutes ago, as I read:
Embrace what is true NOW.
Naomi Dunford
This sentence, apparently so simple, has so many layers within that it can be read in at least four different ways (sky is the limit, here). Naomi capitalized "NOW", for empathizing it, but your mileage may vary.
[Now Is Just Right Now by Egor Kraft, 2014]
"Embrace" what is true now.
What does "embrace" mean to you and how can you embrace what is true now? How would this look like and how would you know that you are succeeding at it? It has to be "all in or nothing" or can you imagine yourself taking baby steps?
Embrace "what" is true now.
What exactly? If perception is reality and the way you look at things will shape your day, how are you looking at the situation and where is your focus, right now? What would happen, if you would change that?
Embrace what is "true" now.
True and false, black and white, right and wrong. An easy task to recognize it, right?
Here, Byron Katie would just ask: "Are you sure? How do you know that what you are thinking is true?". Two pretty good questions, if you ask me.
[How about honoring the space between no longer and not yet,
while enjoying the process and dancing your way through it?]
Embrace what is true "now".
The time is now, they say. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow doesn't exist yet.
We tend to live in the past, trapped in our memories, either melancholic or emotionally broken or nostalgic, or to live in the future, while looking forward to the next sexy shiny thing without paying attention and cherishing what is in our life right now.
How would you feel, as a guest at a party, if your host would ignore you completely and just spend the evening while feverishly waiting for someone that is not there yet or just recollecting how great previous parties have been, where you had been not invited to?
Welcome? Appreciated? Seen? Glad to be there? Looking forward to the next invitation from the host? Exactly, I thought so too.
Time to change this, if you ask me.
Time to make the most out of what is now. Exactly today. Yesterday already had its chance, tomorrow is not here yet. It's time to dance to the rhythm of the song that is playing now.
This one is for Naomi, of course. She's the best.
