One of the things that people remember best about Christopher Nolan's 'Batman' trilogy is the unpredictable (and therefore scary) attitude of Joker, majestically portrayed by Heath Ledger, so probably nobody would think about Batman's archenemy when looking for professional advice. Or for a good coaching question.
And yet, two among many memorable Joker's lines could be very useful in every career path, even more in troubled times like these.
The first one is self-explanatory and absolutely true, more often than not: "If you're good at something, never do it for free."
Very often, we tend to think that being serious is a synonym for being professional. There could be a correlation, sure thing, but it is well-known that correlation does not imply causation.
We may be serious and professional at the same time most of the time, but this doesn't mean that we can't be professional without being (super) serious, for a change.
Taking things just a little bit more casually could be the missing piece of the puzzle, once in a while.
Coaching question of the day:
"How can you take things just a little bit more casually?"
