Never give up!, they say. And it often feels like one of those fancy mantras that everyone is using these days without paying attention to the consequences.
Never giving up may sound cool and grand indeed, and yet it's often a pretty short-sighted thing to do.
Here's the main misunderstanding: Giving up doesn't mean being a loser. It doesn't mean being lazy. And for sure it doesn't mean being weak.
is up to you and your ability to notice the difference
between what's worth fighting for, and what isn't]
Life is not about never giving up, but about learning the difference between when it makes sense to keep going and when it makes sense to give up, and even more about acting accordingly upon it.
Keeping up, no matter what, with something meaningful and valuable and yet hard is a great life skill.
This kind of determination and endurance is usually a reward per se, independently from the final outcome. It's about the process, the sense of self-efficacy that comes with it, and the growth and resilience that can be achieved at every step.
And yet there is a difference between being determined and being stubborn, between being focused and being delusional, between being committed and being obsessed.
Let's get to know the difference, and act accordingly.
