Coaching, reloaded - Coaching question of the day #284. - Advice worth following

Giving a good, solid, and useful piece of advice is an art. And so is accepting a piece of advice as well.
Easy for some of us, difficult or almost impossible for others.

And yet, even if most people don't like to admit it that often, it's just not only about our ability to deal with the advice, but also, and probably even more so, about who is giving advice to whom, and how.

[A piece of advice can make or break the day...
Paying attention to the source may be worth a try]

The very same piece of advice can feel like a generous gift or like rubbish depending on the person dispensing it and what we think of them.

Do we consider the person reliable, intelligent, trustworthy?
Do we believe that they know what they are talking about?
Do they embody the advice they give, do they live by it?
Do we have the impression that the advice has been given in a selfless way while having our best interest in mind?

Not every piece of advice has been created equal.
Reflecting on whose advice we could, should, and would follow can spare us a lot of headaches over time.

Coaching question of the day:
"Whose advice do you usually follow?"
