"I will not let this slow me down", we say. As if slowing down would always be a very bad thing to do.
Sometimes it is, other times it isn't.
In a culture that sees every pause as a sign of weakness or laziness, slowing down is considered just the same as falling behind.

Slowing down is more often than not a way to practice self-awareness, mindfulness, and thankfulness.
A way to be kind to ourselves, to listen to our body, to take a break, or to find a more suitable pace that can be also sustainable over time.
It's not about losing a race, because there's no race where what counts is our own personal velocity.
If we are willing to admit that, sometimes, slowing down is exactly what we need in order to recharge our batteries before we can hit the ground running once more, ready for the next challenge, the next adventure, the next step.
