Coaching, reloaded - Coaching question of the day #288. - The recipients of your next thank-you notes

Receiving a thank-you note is almost as rewarding as writing one.
Being able to feel gratitude and to recognize it is pivotal, of course, and yet being also able to express our gratitude is just as important.

Way too many people are worried about coming across as needy, touchy-feely, or even awkward for it.
This could be not farther away from the truth.

[In one week, a very unusual year will be over.
Let's reach out and express our gratitude
with a personalized thank-you note of any kind]

Voicing our thankfulness, saying out loud (or writing down) why we are glad, celebrating the many reasons for us to feel gratitude is a gift both for us and for the recipient of our thank-you note.
And if they can't deal with a present, a compliment, a nice word, or any kind of acknowledgment, this has actually very little to do with us and our supposed neediness and a lot to do with their attitude about their own emotions or maybe even emotions in general.

This year has been peculiar in many regards.
For sure there are many people that made it a little bit less unbearable for us, in a lot of different ways.

Before this year will be over, it's a good idea to reach out (via e-mail, via phone, via text, via social media, with a beautiful handwritten message...) and let them know that what they did or said mattered to you.
I'm sure it did.

Coaching question of the day:
"Who will receive a thank-you note from you this year?"
