Many things in life can't be managed like we would take care of our bookkeeping.
At the same time, running a reality check once in a while about where our energy, our focus, our time, and our resources go on a regular basis and how this is impacting our wellbeing is a very healthy habit.
What is actually costing us plenty of energy is not always what we believe is costing us energy.
What is actually giving us plenty of energy is not always what we believe is giving us energy.

[Some things could be quite obvious,
like a pandemic... but others will surprise you]
We may expect people, activities, and situations to take a toll on us and yet realize over time, while taking a deeper look at them, that they are actually leaving us better off than before.
At the same time, we could assume that certain things and habits in our lives are good for us, and yet we could discover that those are the ones that leave us tired, unsatisfied, restless, or emotionally depleted.
In order to take care of ourselves and of the issues that are hurting us, relying on gut feeling alone is not enough.
Long-lasting change starts with a structured, meaningful, and brutally honest reality check.
