We like to talk about work-life balance, and about how important work-life balance is for us...
Even if defining what work-life balance actually is and how we could achieve it can feel at times difficult, blurred, ambiguous.
We are always willing to recharge our smartphones and other devices, and yet we often fail to realize that we are running on empty.
Today's question is a precious tool for performing an honest reality check.
It could debunk a double standard we use while being either very understanding to others and way too demanding towards ourselves, or the other way around.
It could expose the fact that we are treating poorly both ourselves and others or, in a more desirable scenario, it could let us realize once more that we can be compassionate and thoughtful to ourselves and others as well.
Being able to give ourselves and others (colleagues, employees, business partners, clients, loved ones, friends, you name it) permission to pause is a sign of strength, not of weakness, and it signalizes self-awareness, mindfulness, and empathy. Let's go for it, from now on.
Coaching question of the day:
"How often do you give yourself and others permission to pause?"
