You should "know thyself", true that.
Still, when in doubt, ask someone else that knows you very well.
Even better if, before a big hairy decision or a significant life change coming up, you could count on a couple of people that know you so well that, once in a while, it could even look like they could know you better than you do.
[Best friends, your partner, coaches and mentors,
a special member of your family or your favorite teacher...
Some people can know you better than you do, sometimes]
Thing is, under specific circumstances, they actually do.
They can observe you and the situation from the outside, they can notice things and patterns that are not so clear to you (yet), they can have a more neutral take about what is actually going on.
And, if they are very valuable connections, they can have an honest conversation with you and give you their opinion in a respectful and nurturing way.
It is then up to you to cherish, embrace, and be thankful for what they could tell you. It could hurt or be unpleasant in the short-term, and yet very often it is the kind of knowledge that could effectively help you change your life for real.
