Motivational speaker Jim Rohn [1930-2009] may or may not have famously said "'You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with."
He, or whoever actually said that, was right. And also wrong.
The five people you spend the most time with have indeed a real impact on your wealth, health, happiness, professional success, and development.
But this applies also to the five people those people spend the most time with: if they are thriving, your friends and loved ones are thriving, and so are you. If they are miserable, chances are, your friends and loved ones are affected by this, and so could you.
[Your accountability buddies?
They could be way more than expected...
if you are choosing the right network for yourself]
And so on, and so on, degree of separation after degree of separation, in a sort of gigantic and invisible domino effect that can go as far as your network of first connections and lose connections goes.
The power of a strong network is real.
The influence that other people can have on your ideas, motivation, feelings, values, actions is also immensely powerful, therefore it is worth paying attention to the kind of network you are building and nurturing over time, the one that should keep you accountable.
