For movie geeks, it's just as clear as day, and for many other kinds of geeks is also quite understandable: A movie marathon is a special occasion for many reasons.
For the people not quite accustomed to this sort of pleasure yet, I will explain.
It's not only about the movies: The movies and their quality (or lack of...) play a role, sure thing.
And yet, a movie marathon is even more about designing the perfect event while creating a special imaginary world for a specific amount of time, choosing the right atmosphere and adequate stimuli, treating oneself to something officially not necessary and yet, sometimes, so necessary in order to relax, unplug, have a good laugh (or a good scare).
they are as many as my moods.
How about you?]
A movie marathon can be enjoyed alone, or even better with like-minded people, in person or virtually: friends and loved ones, fans of the same movies, a community of whatever size passionate about a topic, a director, a genre, a movie series, an actor...
It's fun with the seasoned admirers and with the newbies enjoying the movies for the very first time, with the people you know and care about sitting near you, with strangers or virtual connections commenting with you on social media in real-time, or with any kind of different mix.
In times like the present ones, a movie marathon can be a lovely way to shelter in place, stay in touch, rewatch the classics, or explore new cinematic lands.
Today's question is an invitation to play a little with some movie titles and think about how the ideal marathon could look like. The results may surprise you.
